Eric Benson

Mr. Benson is a successful medical product and technology entrepreneur with over 20 years’ experience in leading financial planning and analysis and business operations, to optimize product development, commercial strategy, and BD&L transactions and/or M&A deals. He is the founding partner of Lucic Partners, driving financial and corporate development achievements for emerging healthcare companies. More recently leading American BioOptics’ financing, operating and development processes by acquiring $2M in funding to advance their InPointTM System, POC cancer risk stratification, from lab to clinic within 18months; through development, design freeze and manufacturing all under ISO 13485 certification.

Mr. Benson also led finance and product planning support for Innoblative Designs and Briteseed. Prior he directed new product forecasting and strategy at Astellas Pharma, providing commercial analysis and product plans on both pipeline and in-line product opportunities for BD&L, R&D and MA teams. Earlier he directed corporate development and finance at Ohmx Diagnostics and Marathon Pharma, and was a Healthcare M&A investment banker at Dresner Partners, as well as R&D manager at Intergrated Genomics and Aastrom Biosciences.

Mr. Benson also teaches medical product strategy and commercialization at Northwestern’s Master of Biotechnology Program, and formerly at Kellogg School of Management. He is also a mentor and subject matter expert at MATTER and Chicago Innovation Mentors group, and guest speaker for iBIO’s Propel organization. In addition to his experience, he holds an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from Vanderbilt University and an MBA in Finance, Accounting and Entrepreneurship from The University of Chicago.
