Dr. James Killeffer is Associate Professor and Chief of the Division of Neurosurgery at the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville. He was a co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of Arkis Biosciences Inc., where he led clinical development and implementation of the Arkis Crebroflo EVD catheter. Subsequently acquired by Integra Lifesciences, the Cerebroflo catheter in now in widespread use for treating acute hydrocephalus and intraventricular hemorrhage. His work at Arkis also resulted in designing and bringing to market numerous proprietary surgical tools for hydrocephalus surgery as well as unique shunt valve technology. In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Killeffer currently works with the Engineering faculty at UT on NIH-funded research involving virtual and solid-state modeling of CSF hydrodynamics, shunt catheters, and valve design.
